Fishing Year
The fishing year shall coincide with the financial year, i.e. from 1 July to 30 June each year.
Eligible Species
Eligible Species shall be as per the latest ANSA Rules and Regulations handbook in force at the time. All captures / releases must be made in Australian territorial waters, i.e. within Australia and its territories and offshore to the 200 mile International Limit.
Minimum Point Score
Senior – 25 points (2kg minimum line class for all club competitions & conventions)
Senior – 50 points (1kg line class for all point scoring fish outside of club competitions & conventions)
Junior (Under 16 years of age) – There is no minimum point score. However, all fish must comply with the relevant State minimum length regulations, or where no minimum legal length applies, be a minimum length of 25 cm
OPEN TROPHIES – (NOT SPECIFICALLY JUNIOR)
Chris Deans Club Champion
Description: Highest aggregate of points scored by a senior or junior in each club competition, (including ANSA comps) during the fishing year.
Senior Male Champion
Description: Highest aggregate of point scoring fish of each eligible species captured by a senior male angler during the fishing year.
Senior Female Champion
Description: Highest aggregate of point scoring fish of each eligible species captured by a senior female angler during the fishing year.
Champion Boat
Description: The boat with the highest aggregate of point scoring fish of each eligible species captured during the fishing year.
Freshwater Champion
Description: Highest aggregate of point scoring fish of each eligible species captured by a senior or junior during the fishing year in freshwater lakes, reservoirs, rivers, creeks etc. above a point of tidal influence.
Estuary Champion
Description: Highest aggregate of point scoring fish of each eligible species captured by a senior or junior during the fishing year in a river estuary system. (Defined as the mouth of a river/lake to the highest point of tidal influence).
Land Based Champion
Description: Highest aggregate of point scoring fish of each eligible species captured by a senior or junior during the fishing year from land formations or on a platform or structure securely & permanently attached to land. I.e. river/lake banks, surf beaches, rock formations, piers and jetties, etc.
Tag and Release Champion
Description: Highest aggregate of point scoring fish of each eligible GFAA species, tagged and released by a senior or junior during the fishing year.
Highest Point Scoring Blue Water Fish
Description: Highest point scoring fish of any eligible pelagic species captured by a senior or junior, during the fishing year.
Highest Point Scoring Snapper
Description: Highest point scoring Snapper captured by a senior or junior, during the fishing year.
President’s Trophy
Description: To be awarded at the Presidents discretion
NAFA Trophy – to be awarded at the Committee’s discretion.
Description: Nominations open to members during the fishing year. Any silly / strange / stupid / funny comment or event by one of our members during the fishing season.
JUNIOR TROPHIES
Junior Male Champion
Description: Highest aggregate of point scoring fish of each eligible species captured by a junior male angler during the fishing year.
Junior Female Champion
Description: Highest aggregate of point scoring fish of each eligible species captured by a junior female angler during the fishing year.
Junior Male Champion Runner-up
Description: Second highest aggregate of point scoring fish of each eligible species captured by a junior male angler during the fishing year.
Junior Female Champion Runner-up
Description: Second highest aggregate of point scoring fish of each eligible species captured by a junior female angler during the fishing year.
Highest Point Scoring Fish (Junior)
Description: Highest point scoring fish of any eligible species captured by a junior angler during the fishing year.
Encouragement Award
Description: To be awarded at the Committee’s discretion.
N.B. The weigh master(s) has the final discretion over species identification and whether a fish is eligible to count towards club points.
